On-line Watercolour Demonstration.
Duration: 2Hrs 5Mins

Welcome to another of my online painting tutorial demonstrations for you to follow and learn from.

In this tutorial I will show you how to easily capture ‘The Essence of Venice’ in Pen and Watercolour Wash. Please don’t let my illustration intimidate you or put you off in any way, there is nothing to fear. If you are going to tackle this type of subject, Pen and Wash is the easiest way to do it. It really isn’t as difficult as it looks, and when you’ve got the sketching out of the way it can be done very quickly. I will show you how and take you through the process step-by-step.

When in Venice on my painting breaks, I love to wilfully lose myself in the back streets in search of painting opportunities like this one. The Bridge, ‘Ponte del Cavallo’ connects two of the six city districts Castello & Cannaregio. This sketch was done in the magnificent Square of ‘Campo Santi Giovanni e Paolo’ looking towards the elaborately decorated Renaissance facade of the ‘Scuola Grande di San Marco’ building. After St. Mark’s Square, the Campo Santi Giovanni e Paolo was considered by the Venetians, to be the most important and famous in the city. I would love to have the opportunity to teach you how to paint this magical Pen & Wash watercolour.
I would be delighted if you could join me
